10 February 2026

Two full rounds of consultation have now been completed as part of the development of the new Atherstone leisure facility. Thank you to everyone who attended the sessions, viewed the materials and shared feedback.

First round of consultation

The first phase of engagement was held before Christmas, beginning in the first week of November.

Council members drop‑in session at the Council House – early November

Council members were invited to view the initial concept designs and discuss the early proposals.

Public drop‑in session at Atherstone Leisure Centre – early November
The wider community were able to see the same material and ask questions directly to the project team.

Targeted engagement sessions – pre‑Christmas

In addition to the drop‑in events, sessions were held with:

  • Atherstone Town Council
  • Atherstone Town Partnership
  • Disability Forum
  • Atherstone Heritage & Civic Society

Second round of consultation

A second round of engagement took place in February 2026 to present the updated designs. These can be seen attached below.

A council member session was held on 2nd February. All council members were invited to view the latest designs and raise any questions.

A public drop in session was held on 3rd February at Atherstone Leisure Centre (13:00–19:30).

The updated design boards were displayed throughout the entire session.

Promotion for this event included:

  • Direct distribution of over 500 flyers to residents and businesses surrounding the leisure centre
  • Publication of the event on the North Warwickshire Leisure web pages
  • Promotion via North Warwickshire Borough Council social media
  • Additional sharing by local historians on their social media platforms

Feedback to date

Overall feedback has been positive. A recurring area of interest has been around what will happen while the building is under construction. Any updates on this will be shared here as soon as they become available.

Next steps

Following all public and Council Member input, the planning application for the new Atherstone Leisure Complex is now being submitted this month, effectively locking in the design from this point forward. We are grateful for all comments received during this process.

This page will continue to be the place to find ongoing updates on the build progress and future community information as the project moves forward.

Don’t forget! Our FAQs section will be regularly updated as we move through the process.
