Behind the scenes: meet the builders and see the progress so far

If you've walked past the leisure centre recently, you might be wondering whether much has changed. It’s a fair question. From the outside, things may look much the same. But behind the scenes, a huge amount of work is taking place to prepare the building for its next chapter.
Meet the builder
We're inviting residents to join Speller Metcalfe and North Warwickshire Borough Council at a community drop-in session where you can meet the team delivering the project, learn more about the redevelopment and ask questions on:

In the meantime, here's a look at some of the work that's already been taking place behind the scenes.
The work you can't see
While many people are understandably excited to see new facilities take shape, every major project starts with important preparation work.
Over recent weeks, contractors have began the extensive internal strip-out works across the building, clearing spaces and removing old fixtures to make way for the transformation ahead.
Out with the old
Inside the building, significant progress is already being made.
Lockers are being removed, benches are coming out, doors are being taken down and areas are being stripped back to create a blank canvas for the next phase of works.
The photographs accompanying this update offer a glimpse inside the building and show some of the soft strip works currently taking place as preparations continue for demolition.
Creating the foundations
Think of it like renovating your home. Before a new kitchen is installed or walls are redecorated, there's a lot of work that needs to happen first.
The same principle applies here.
Every fixture removed and every space cleared brings the project one step closer to delivering the facilities residents will enjoy for years to come.
The visible changes are coming
We know many residents are eager for updates and keen to see progress for themselves.
The good news is that while much of the activity is currently happening behind closed doors, that won't be the case for long.
As work progresses and the project moves into new phases, the changes will become far more noticeable both inside and outside the building.
Watch this space
For now, don't be fooled by the quiet exterior.
The transformation is well underway, with teams hard at work every day moving the project forward.
The most visible changes are still to come – and when they arrive, they'll be hard to miss.
