A bird's-eye view of progress at the new leisure facility site
22 October 2026
Watch our latest timelapse footage and see how the former Atherstone Leisure Centre and Memorial Hall site is evolving as work progresses towards the next phase of the new leisure centre development.
The site of the former Atherstone Leisure Centre and Memorial Hall means many different things to many different people.
For some, it holds memories of swimming lessons, birthday parties, community events, first jobs and familiar faces. While the site continues to change, we know many residents remain keen to stay connected to its future.
That's why we're excited to share a new timelapse from our construction partners, Speller Metcalfe, offering a unique bird's-eye view of the progress made so far.
As demolition nears completion and preparations begin for the next phase of works, the footage provides an opportunity to see how the site has evolved over recent months and how the project is progressing.
What you can spot
The timelapse captures far more than you might think at first glance.
Keep an eye out for:
- Work beginning inside the building before becoming visible externally.
- Activity gradually moving across different areas of the site.
- The constant movement of demolition machinery as teams work their way through the site.
- The moment sections of the former pool structure are removed.
- The site changing through all kinds of weather, come rain or shine.
The opening stages of the footage can appear relatively quiet, but look closely and you'll start to notice just how much is happening behind the scenes.
And if you’ve got digger-obsessed kids, try and see how many they can spot!
Bringing you behind the hoardings
Many people are curious to see what's happening on site, especially as progress starts to become more visible.
If want a front row seat of the action, head round to Croft Road to have a peak through the peep holes in the hoardings.
Designed for curious adults and young construction fans alike, they offer a front-row view of activity on site and a chance to see the transformation taking place for yourself.
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates coming soon to the hoardings too.
This is just the beginning
The timelapse will continue capturing progress throughout the build, creating a visual record of the build taking shape over the next two years.
We'll also be sharing more detailed drone footage soon, giving you an even closer look at some of the work taking place across the site.
Whether you're watching the timelapse from home, stopping for a peek through the hoardings or following our regular updates, we want to bring you along for the journey.
So press play, see how far we've already come, and don't forget to share the footage with friends and family so they can follow the transformation too.
